Revitalization Plan

PAL Spartanburg, with the help of the National Park Service and residents of the City of Spartanburg, developed this Revitalization Plan for Duncan Park.

Secondary Park Entrance:
Informational kiosk, paved trail, crosswalk to future greenway, sitting area.

Secondary Parking Area:
Limited parking area, lakeside benches, picnic shelter and concrete ramp access.

Parking Area:
Parking area and ADA trail access to pier, kayak launch, and bridge.

Non-motorized Water Access:
Concrete ramp for kayak/ canoe water access, short pier.

Expand Active Rec. Area:
Parking, pickleball courts, refurbished restroom facilities, basketball court.

Multi-generational Playground:
Playground equipment to serve a variety of age groups.

Stadium Memorial Courtyard:
Memorial in honor of the Negro Baseball League and historic stadium, relocate existing playground equipment.

Main Parking Area:
Reconstruct parking to terrace along hillside in order to reduce existing drainage problems.

Proposed Roundabout:
Proposed roundabout for traffic control.

Secondary Park Entrance:
Information kiosk, benches, entrance for two paved trails; along road and inside park.

Historic Amphitheatre:
Revitalize historic amphitheatre/ outdoor gathering space; benches, clearing, foot path access.

Park Entrance:
Connect roadside paved trail with existing paved park trail.

Open Field Area:
Information kiosk, paved trail, outdoor amphitheatre, new restroom facilities, manicured open field area.

Main Park Entrance:
Information kiosk, paved trail, crosswalk to MBF Rail Trail, outdoor amphitheatre, new restroom facilities, manicured open field area.

Central Park Area:
Clear understory and invasive plant material; create open view through park.

Secondary Park Entrance:
Information kiosk, paved trail, crosswalk to future greenway, sitting area.

Secondary Park Entrance:
Information kiosk, paved trail, sitting area, lake bridge access, no parking area.
